ThinkerNotes is run by Mix & Go SRL. Your notes are your own thinking, so we try to keep as little as we need, use it only to run the product for you, and tell you plainly where it goes. If anything here is unclear, write to us at hello@thinkernotes.com and we'll explain.
To make search by meaning and related ideas work, we send the text of your insights to OpenAI, which turns it into an embedding (a list of numbers that captures what the note is about). We store that embedding next to your note so we can find notes that mean similar things, even when they use different words. When you search by meaning, your search text goes through the same step.
When ThinkerNotes gathers related notes into groups for you, we also send a short excerpt of each note in a group to OpenAI, so it can suggest a name for the group.
OpenAI processes this text to return a result to us, and that's all. We use OpenAI through its API, and OpenAI doesn't use data sent through its API to train its models. We don't send your notes to any other AI provider, and we don't use them to train anything ourselves.
You can connect an AI assistant such as Claude to ThinkerNotes over MCP, or use our REST API with your own code. Nothing gets access to your notes unless you allow it, either by approving the connection over OAuth when the assistant asks, or by creating an API token yourself in your settings.
Access over MCP is read-only, so an assistant can search and read your notes but can't change or delete them. Every connection and every token is scoped to your own account, so it can only ever see your notes and nobody else's.
You can revoke access at any time. Delete an API token in your settings and it stops working straight away. To cut off an assistant connected over OAuth, disconnect ThinkerNotes in that assistant's settings, and if you'd also like us to revoke its access on our side, email us and we'll do it for you.
ThinkerNotes doesn't see or store your conversations with the assistant. We only see the requests it makes to us, like a search for a word or a request for a particular note, the same as any other request to our servers, and these can show up in our server logs for a short time. What the assistant does with your notes after it reads them is covered by that assistant's own privacy policy.
We don't sell, trade or rent your information to anyone. These are the services that handle some of it so ThinkerNotes can run, and each one only gets what it needs for its job:
We count visits, page views and a few actions on the Site, like using the free Kindle clippings tool, with our own analytics, which runs on our own servers, so none of it is sent to an analytics company. It doesn't use cookies, the last part of your IP address is removed before anything is stored, and visits are never linked to your account.
The only cookies we set are the ones needed to keep you signed in and to protect forms from abuse. You can block cookies in your browser, but then you won't be able to sign in.
Your notes are kept until you delete them or delete your account. When you delete your account, everything in it is removed from our database, including your notes, sources, uploads and API tokens. Our database backups are kept for 30 days, so a deleted note or account is gone from the backups too after 30 days.
You can get all of your notes out whenever you like through the REST API, and if you'd rather not deal with the API, email us and we'll send you a full export.
We collect the minimum amount of information needed to provide the products and services you've requested. How we collect and use your data is covered by our legitimate interest and by our contract with you to provide the service.

Using some of these rights might stop us from being able to provide the service. For instance, if you ask for your records to be erased, your notes and purchase history go with them.
To use any of these rights, write to hello@thinkernotes.com. You can update your email, change your password and delete your account yourself from your profile, without emailing anyone.
Everything between your browser and ThinkerNotes travels over an encrypted HTTPS connection. Access to our servers, database and backups is limited to the people who run ThinkerNotes, and we use the security measures you'd expect to protect your data against unauthorized access, changes, disclosure or loss.
ThinkerNotes isn't meant for children. We never knowingly collect information from anyone under 13, and no part of the Site is designed to attract them.
All products are sold "as is". You assume the responsibility for your purchase, and no refunds will be issued.
Upon receipt of your order, the services will be performed to you in accordance with the terms applicable to the services that you purchased. The nature of the services you purchased and the date of your purchase may impact the timing of performance of the services. The services will be deemed to be successfully delivered to you upon performance of the services.
We may update this policy from time to time, and when we do, we'll change the date at the top of this page.
